Jonathan Dickens MSc MA BSc Physio (Hons). MCSP HCPC AACP
graduated from Brunel University in 1996 with a BSc Honours Degree. He began his career working in the NHS initially completing his hospital rotations in all fields before specialising in Musculoskeletal and Orthopaedics.
Working initially in the NHS hospitals in London and Surrey he accompanied this with working part-time for Queens Park Rangers Football club. In 2000 Jonathan progressed his physiotherapy studying a MA in London within Research for Disability before managing the Private BMI Sloane Hospital Physiotherapy Department in Beckenham until 2008, continuing to work in both musculoskeletal outpatients and orthopaedics.
From 2008 until 2019 Jonathan worked for the Ministry of Defence working in Faslane in Scotland with the Royal Marines and Submariners, and in Portsmouth for the Royal Navy before becoming the Clinical Lead for over 10 years for the Upper Limbs team at the Centre for excellence (Headley Court in Epsom) where he treated soldiers who had sustained complex battlefield injuries as well as injuries sustained through general military duties. In his role he gained extensive experience working with a multidisciplinary team including Consultants in Pain management, Orthopaedic and Peripheral Nerve Surgeons, Rheumatologists and Sports and Exercise Medicine Doctors. The role provided excellence in rehabilitation ensuring optimal outcomes for all injured service personnel despite their complex needs and injuries.
Following the closure of Headley Court in Epsom 2019, he completed his MSc in Musculoskeletal Diagnostic Ultrasound and continued to work in a military setting at Wellington Barracks in London for the Household Cavalry working closely with Sports and Exercise Medicine Consultants and exercise therapists.
Over the last few years he has worked as a Band 8 Advanced Practitioner in Musculoskeletal and Orthopaedics in the NHS, working both within GP surgeries and various University London Hospitals. He remains dedicated to providing accurate diagnosis, optimal care and exercise rehabilitation for those he treats. In the case of post operative surgery he works closely with Consultants to ensure continuity of care while following evidence based practice to achieve optimal post operative recovery.
